Local Numbers: What Happens After Checkout?

Getting a new local phone number is exciting. But what happens after checkout? First, it’s always important to remember that you own your number outright. It’s yours the moment the transaction completes.

The next step is to decide how you want to start receiving calls. You have three options:

1. Port the number to your carrier of choice
2. Once your order is received, our team will send all of the necessary information and instructions to port (transfer) the number to your phone service provider
3. Porting typically take 7-10 business days, which varies between carriers and their capabilities
4. Once the port is final, you will receive a notification from your carrier and will be able to make/receive calls and texts from your new number
5. Park the number with us until you’re ready to use it, or
6. If you're not ready to use your brand new number yet, you can park the number, which means we will hold on to it and keep it in an inactive state for a small monthly fee
7. You will not be able to receive calls or texts to the number until it is activated via porting or call-forwarding
8. When you are ready to activate your number, simply notify our support team and we will send the necessary information to activate the number for you to use
9. Sign up for one of our call forwarding service plans.
10. With call-forwarding, you don't have to add a line with your service provider - we will hold onto the number and forward inbound calls to your existing number
11. With call-forwarding, you will not be able to make outbound calls or send outbound texts from the number
12. You will have access to a portal where you will be able to track inbound calls, change the ring-to number, customizable call blocking, and more.
